Japanese karaage technique meets Lisbon’s Bica neighborhood. Fresh-fried to order, no shortcuts, no heat lamps. Just crispy, juicy chicken done properly.
How Wishbone Started
The Wishbone team first began in Lisbon in 2021 with Dahlia, a restaurant centered around seasonal sharing plates. Over time, it became clear that one dish stood out above the rest—the karaage chicken. It became a firm favorite among guests and the only dish that never left the menu.
Founded in 2024
In 2024, the team leaned into this popularity, hosting a series of pop-ups dedicated solely to their signature karaage. The response was immediate and overwhelmingly positive.
From Pop-Ups to Bica
Building on that success, they opened Wishbone in Lisbon’s vibrant Bica neighborhood, just steps from Time Out Market and the waterfront. A small, focused fast-casual spot with a simple mission: make exceptional karaage accessible to everyone.

Fresh-Fried to Order
Every order is fried when you order it. No heat lamps. No sitting under warmers. Our final fry takes just 3 minutes, which means we can get your food out quickly—while keeping your chicken at peak crispiness. Worth it.
Everything Made by Hand
All of our sauces, slaws, pickles, and marinades are made daily in-house by our team of chefs. Fresh ingredients, proper technique, zero shortcuts.
Traditional Karaage Technique
Our chicken marinates overnight using traditional Japanese karaage methods. The result: a crispy coating, tender meat, and flavor all the way through.
Small Menu by Design
Our menu is intentionally limited. The Original Wishbone Chicken Sandwich, a vegan mushroom version, chicken pieces, triple-cooked fries, Sunomono salad and a few dips. That’s it. We’d rather do six things perfectly than twenty things okay.
Fast Food Done Right
Our food is fast—but it’s not fast food. Fresh-fried to order in minutes, made by hand daily. Speed and quality aren’t mutually exclusive at Wishbone.
What we serve
The Original Wishbone Chicken Sandwich
Crispy karaage fried chicken with our own Japanese-style kewpie mayo, all made in-house. Available spicy or regular. It’s our signature for a reason.


Karaage Fried Mushroom Sandwich
Fully vegan. Fried oyster mushrooms get the same karaage treatment as our chicken. Vegan kewpie, vegan bun. We’ve watched meat-eaters order it twice in one visit.
Karaage Chicken Pieces (Large)
Skip the bread. Just the karaage chicken (regular, large, or snack size). Perfect with beer.

Triple-Cooked Fries
Triple-cooked for maximum crispiness. Simple, done right.


Sunomono Cucumber Salad
A guest favorite and a consistent surprise. Light, refreshing, perfectly balanced, the ideal counterpoint to crispy fried chicken. Don’t skip this one.
Dips & Sauces
Our own Japanese-style kewpie mayo, BBQ sauce, hot sauce, ketchup. All our dips are vegan or available vegan.
